U.S. Solar Energy Jobs Up 13 Percent from 2011

Renewable energy projects are increasingly creating more jobs around the globe. Specifically in the United States, the number of jobs created by solar energy grew by 13.2 percent this year compared to last, according to the Cronkite News Service. The increase in solar energy jobs represents a growth rate nearly six times faster than the national average employment growth rate.

According to the National Solar Jobs Census 2012, there are near 120,000 people in the United States with jobs related to the solar energy industry. In 2011, there were just more than 105,000 workers in the industry. The rise in solar power installations over the past year helped the job numbers increase, said Andrea Luecke, director of the Solar Foundation.
