Work rotating 12 hour shifts as assigned.  Operation of  80MW Waste to Energy facility and all associated power systems. Some of the job responsibilities include:

 

  • Operate power systems including three MSW fired boilers and two steam turbine generators either locally or via the Westinghouse WDPF Distributive Control System . 

 

  • Continuos monitoring of plant parameters and alarms, ability to take corrective action during emergency and upset conditions.

 

  • Inform the Shift Supervisor as to the existing and changing unit operating conditions.

 

  • Prepare an issue Safety Permits for equipment tag out purposes.

 

  • Maintain operating logs and records.

 

  • Supervise and direct other assigned shift personnel.

 

Job Knowledge :

 

  • Knowledge of operating equipment specifically boilers and steam turbine generators. Ability to read and understand operating procedures and drawings.  Waste to Energy experience a plus.  Control Room operations experience also a plus.


Other Requirements :

 

  • Requires Mass Second Class Engineers License

 

  • Required to work in hot and/or dusty conditions with MSW and ash as part of routine activities.
