The ES&H (Environmental Safety and Health) Manager is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, and executing the safety, occupational health and environmental components of personnel, materials, equipment, and working environments. Manager pursues, and implements the most superior safety and environmental plans and training systems for the Company and its Clients. Relative to numerous regulatory influences, Manager performs internal/external audits and executes corrective actions towards comprehensive compliance assurance.




  • Medical Management (HAZ Mat Surveillance, Respiratory, Workers Comp & Off Duty).
  • Perform critical New Employee on boarding and orientation duties.
  • Investigation, reporting, and reviewing findings from all near miss reports, accident investigations, facilities inspections, or environmental testing results.
  • Claims filing and ongoing claims management.
  • Interface with Risk Control, Captive Insurance, and all Client/Disposal Partner ES&H Representatives.
  • Enforces and improves upon all current policies, regulations, and unique industrial process rules.
  • Conducts and/or coordinates worker training in areas governed by OSHA, DOT, EPA, and other governing agencies.
  • Peer review of all safety programs for adequacy, compliance, and improvement opportunity.
  • Directly provides best in class, preferably hand on, training around critical subject matter; Confined Space, HAZWOPER, First Aid & CPR, DOT Hazardous
  • Materials, OSHA 10 Hour, Client Specific.
  • Recommends process and product safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to chemical, physical, and biological work hazards.
  • Drug and Alcohol Policy Co-Administration.
  • External Auditing (Disposal Partner and Client Services).
  • Internal Auditing (Field Projects, Truck Terminals, Wastewater Treatment Facilities).
  • Building and Transportation Security Liaison.
  • SPCC and other forms of Emergency Response.
  • Membership Affiliation and Ongoing Trainer Education.
  • Co -Administration of E Logs and fleet technologies and database systems.
  • Expansion upon Occupational Clinic relationship and service profiling.
  • Assigned Integration Duties per New Business Unit Acquisitions.
  • Serves as the employee responsible for ensuring that corporate programs and procedures are understood and being implemented at each facility. These include but are not limited to:
    • EMIS/Net Suite review and reporting.
    • RCA for significant environmental events.
    • Industrial Hygiene monitoring and chemical characterization.
    • Expected to conduct periodic audits of facilities, manage permit renewals and modification negotiations, monitor regulatory changes and manage facility responses to them, and provide routine environmental services for facilities during staffing changes.
    • Assist the Facility Environmental Coordinator with preparation of training materials and coordination of weekly and monthly safety themes, completion of incident reports and generation of monthly statistics.
    • Attend and teach training courses in the field of all relevant environmental tasks.
    • Coordinate and facilitate the needed permitting renewals and modifications for new business into the CES Facilities.
    • Ensures that the CES group stay current with regulations including local and federal changes.
Additional responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor


  • Bachelor of Science in science (biology, chemistry, environmental science, occupational health and safety) or engineering (environmental, chemical, mechanical, industrial hygiene etc.) or similar degree preferred.
  • Word processing, database, spreadsheet and power point skills. Knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, ASME and NPPA, DOT regulations, Clean Water Act and RCRA requirements.


  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as safety and/or environmental professional responsible for compliance in the area of OSHA, ANSI, ASME NFPA, DOT standards, Clean Water Act and RCRA.
  • Desired: Specific knowledge and experience with:
    • Title V permits and reports, solid waste facility permits, Proven capability in communicating with diverse levels of regulatory personnel in different disciplines including air, solid waste, water and others as required. Proven capability in communicating corporate messages to community groups.
    • Experience developing permit applications and/or negotiating permit conditions for new permits and/or modification of permits.

LANGUAGE SKILLS - Ability to read, write and speak in English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety and environmental rules, operating and maintenance instructions, Code of Federal regulation, OSHA regulations and other consensus standards, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Excellent statistical and analytical skills
