Based at our Lorton, VA facility, we seek a dedicated individual who is able to operate and maintain safely and efficiently all equipment associated with the residue system and ferrous / nonferrous recovery systems. Responsibilities consist of operating front-end loaders, forklifts, skid steers, man lifts and Lull’s. Perform system operational/maintenance duties in accordance with established procedures.

MORE SPECIFICALLY:

Work under the direction of the Residue Manager, however during emergencies or unusual situations the Residue System Workers will be responsible for taking appropriate action on his own initiative to prevent equipment damage or personnel injury.

Operate and maintain equipment, record data, report equipment malfunctions or trends which indicate possible trouble and perform action as directed to correct abnormal operating conditions or emergency situations.

Assignments will include, but not limited to, PM maintenance tasks assist with and perform minor & major  equipment repair work, maintain and repair worn or defective components on the residue and recycling systems in the plant, residue removal, and MSW handling on the tipping floor, perform painting, cleanup work, mechanical and light welding repairs along with various other tasks.

Be familiar with the plant and the use and care of hand and pneumatic tools, welders and cutting torches, experienced with mobile equipment and material associated with the Residue and MSW loading Systems to include feed pans, material scalpers, and conveyor belts and there care.

Applicant must recognize that this position may be required to work overtime, nights, and incidental or prolonged hours, resulting from unusual operating conditions and major overhauls. Residue System Workers may be asked to participate in work on other equipment and systems throughout the Facility, as deemed necessary.


To be considered for this position you must have a HS diploma/GED. Strong mechanical aptitude coupled with 3-5 years previous experience with operating front end loaders and other heavy equipment. Additionally, 2-5 yrs welding and/or cutting experience with mobile equipment is preferred.
