Based at the Resource Recovery Facility in York, PA, we seek an energetic and dedicated individual who be responsible for the management of the Resource Recovery Facility’s Health and Safety Program.

Reporting to the Facility Manager and working in conjunction with the Regional Safety Administrator, the Facility Safety Coordinator (FSC) oversees regulatory compliance, training and implementation of Covanta’s safety policies, accident investigation and documentation and OSHA VPP efforts.  In addition to managing the RRF’s Safety Program, the FSC will oversee the employee training program, and assist with the daily management of the RRF.

Key responsibilities of the position include:

  • Educate, motivate and enforce Covanta’s safety policies.
  • Manage all aspects of our safety reporting and maintain the RRF’s Safety records.
  • Continually monitor the performance and effectiveness of the Safety Program and implement adjustments and improvement as needed.
  • Complete weekly safety audits and follow-up reporting.
  • Manage the Safety Training Program.
  • Manage the Employee Training Program for RRF and Equipment Operations.
  • Manage accident investigations and all related reporting. 


To be considered for this position, candidate must have an Associates Degree (ideally in a safety and health or science-related area) coupled with 3-5 years Health & Safety experience with a working knowledge of OSHA 1910 regulations. In addition to Occupational Health and Safety, desired experience to include operations and maintenance of electrical generating stations or EfW facilities.  Heavy industrial equipment knowledge would be helpful including but not limited to experience with Front-End Loaders, Fork Lifts, Manlifts, and Gantry Cranes.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Comfortable with public speaking as he or she will be responsible for providing effective health and safety training.
  • Strong computer skills with a demonstrated proficiency in the use of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Well organized with ability to multi-task and adapt to changing conditions.
  • Self-starter with ability to work with minimal supervision.
