Summary:

The individual in this position is responsible for developing and leading initiatives to markedly accelerate to pace of innovation and laboratory operations in the Fluid Id discipline within the Drilling and Evaluation Division.  The front line supervisor will manage a small but multidisciplinary research and development support laboratory.  Laboratory operations include conducting compositional analysis on petroleum fluids, PVT phase behavior experimentation, equation of state modeling and sensor characterization. To accomplish this broad objective, he/she must: (1) Develop appropriate laboratory protocol and methods; (2) maintain and develop as appropriate laboratory safety protocol and chemical hygiene; (3) manage operations and develop new workflow as appropriate; (4) be responsible for maintaining laboratory personnel competencies; (5) be responsible for meeting R&D deadlines.  

 

Job Roles

  • Provide leadership to the team/discipline, setting high expectations for behaviors consistent with our Code of Business Conduct, HSE and SQ objectives and for execution of projects/activities
  • Act as a liaison for Halliburton with client interaction for collaborative R&D projects
  • Provide data quality control and reporting
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, and develop appropriate safety standards
  • Develop new laboratory analysis technology and methodology
  • Contribute to maximize our Intellectual Property position through active patent filing
  • Promote Halliburton with contribute to industry publications
  • Contribute to maximize our Intellectual Property position through active patent filing, participation in freedom-to-operate assessments and competitive surveillance
  • Ensure primer housekeeping in the laboratory and office area
  • Provides technical leadership and support on a range of issues related to petroleum fluid analytics in the PSL, including products, applications, and other processes
  • Promptly and effectively deal with compliance and other performance issues in a manner consistent with company policies and practices

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Skills typically acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree in Science, Engineering or similar discipline, and 10 years of related experience.

 

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Candidates from both within and outside the oil industry will be considered
  • The candidate should have a degree in an engineering or science field, with chemistry, physics or chemical engineering preferred
  • An advanced degree strongly preferred
  • Ideal candidates will have 10+ years related experience, preferably in laboratory operations with:
    • 2 years supervisory experience
    • 2 years R&D support (analytical)
  • Experience with IP processes including invention, patent filing and prosecution processes
  • Outside industry perspective beneficial (seeking non-oil and gas sector experience)
  • Significant experience interacting with suppliers and supply chain
  • Strong strategic thinking, initiative, and change agent abilities
  • Effective communications skills (including verbal, written, and presentation)
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally to define, execute and meet objectives
