The Regional Maintenance Manager (RMM) works under administrative direction of the V.P. Regional Operations Manager and is responsible for consistent execution of maintenance related initiatives per the VP Maintenance Technology. The primary objective of this position is to assure maintenance excellence at each facility and provide consistent regional leadership in Covanta Maintenance initiatives. The RMM is focused on safe, quality driven work execution by CVA employee staffs and contracted services.  The RMM will establish best practices in maintenance management for both corrective and proactive maintenance aligned with Covanta corporate maintenance initiatives.  The RMM will establish consistent outage maintenance practices among facilities corporate maintenance groups, each facility team and leveraging regional maintenance resources and interplant support. The RMM will assist with mentoring and development of facility maintenance managers/ supervisors and their teams, oversee and develop the facility based maintenance skills and focus on all maintenance work execution from work assignment to documentation close out.  Flexible on location either St Petersburg or Miami, Florida. 
 
Priority – Maintenance Oversight and Supervision (25%)

  • Direct supervisory responsibility for work assignments and performance for Regional planners and maintenance project managers

  • Facility maintenance manager/ supervisor performance development and mentoring

Priority – Maintenance Work Safety and Quality (25%)

  • Implement corporate initiatives (like RCM based maintenance steps) required for all jobs and establish regional best practices for:

    • Safety first maintenance planning

    • Work scope assessment

    • Create complete detail work plan including:  job, task effort, cost efficiency monitoring and maintenance leadership

Priority - Outage Management (20%)

  • Implement outage scheduling per MS Projects, work tracking with ALOE board and outage meeting protocols for best communication

  • Assign regional assets (planners, project managers) as needed

  • Developing Outage execution standard around ‘Zone’ management by logical segregation of work areas and developing the ‘Zone Lead’ concept.

  • Leverage interplant cooperation

  • Participate in contractor selection, development and performance evaluation

  • Lead resolution of outage date change conflicts with Central Planning

Priority - Cost and Work Management (20%)

  • Participate in monthly Regional Maintenance Manager call

  • Assist facilities as needed in MOH management/ supervision with a focus KPI analysis findings with Director of Maintenance.

  • Use Self-Assessment tool to help guide needs for training and skill/ ability enhancement

  • Establish facility maintenance management workflow consistent with ALM asset cost tracking

Priority - RCA Program (10%)

  • Learn RCA methodology

  • Participate in equipment related R.C.A. call/disseminate lessons learned to Maintenance department within the region


  • Maintenance management experience minimum 10 years applicable work experience in industrial facility equipment reliability centered maintenance engineering and or program management. EfW preferred.

  • 5 years minimum maintenance supervision or reliability work experience industrial process and or power plant, EFW preferred.

  • Required frequent facility visits in pursuit of assignments. No limitations to working in industrial environment.

  • Knowledge of required and or former use of following are desirable:

    • Detail work/ job planning and work hazard analysis

    • Failure mode analysis and failure analysis techniques

    • Industrial facility maintenance practices

  • Knowledge of machinery vibration analysis methods, thermography, condition assessment via instrumentation and field experience performing each or other NDT methods.
  • Knowledge of industrial codes and standards ex: ASME, NBIC, OSHA, NFPA
  • Strong facility process understanding via P&IDs, drawings and specifications.
  • Safe working leadership and hazards assessment and mitigation skills.
  • Strong report writing skills and ability to commutate orally and in written format.
  • Strong leadership ability to build team/culture at facilities/across the regions, (resource and best practice sharing)
  • Motivated, self-starter.
Qualifications:
  • 10 years in industrial maintenance management minimum.
  • Industry standard reliability professional certification preferred; CRL, CMRP, etc.
  • Practical field experience involving equipment installation, maintenance, overhaul and operation.
  • Knowledge of steam plant operation, and reference knowledge of applicable standards Ex.: ASME, NBIC, NEC.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially with Excel (spreadsheets, modeling, and pivot tables), Outlook, and Access.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with employees, peers and successful communication with management.
Experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of maintenance management experience in industrial maintenance and reliability engineering.
  • Practical skills such as welder, millwright, machinists, operator, etc. a plus.
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Operating facility environment with OSHA required PPE, safety training for areas of steam boiler and turbine – generator operation. Access to all areas of facility required as well as to confined spaces and respirator required areas.  .
  • Job requires physical demands consistent with work in industrial environment.
  • Travel to facilities in order to perform duties is required.  
  • Travel expectation is 50%- 70% and is seasonal depending on outage load.
