Reporting to the Director of Talent Acquisition, you will be part of our geographically dispersed HR team supporting an employee base of about 4,000 in US, Canada and Europe. You will work closely with the Hiring Managers and HR Business Partners to provide both transactional and strategic talent acquisition support to fill critical roles expeditiously.

The Talent Acquisition Partner will be responsible for a variety of talent acquisition activities for roles Covanta’s CES & EfW facilities spread across US, Canada as well as the Corporate Office in Morristown, NJ. 

As our Talent Acquisition Partner, you will apply your expertise to fill open requisitions, build talent pipelines, diversity hiring initiatives, participate in career events, engage with colleges / technical schools and Veteran talent sources. You will be an ambassador of the Covanta employment brand with a goal of proactively engaging high-caliber talent.

Key Roles & Responsibilities include:

  • Support recruiting needs across different disciplines, levels and geographies
  • Partner with Hiring Manager and HR Business Partners to develop effective job posting and sourcing strategies
  • Identify, source, and develop candidates primarily through self-sourcing and low fee resources
  • Screen and deliver a slate of qualified candidates within the target compensation range
  • Guide Hiring Managers on interviewing and assessment techniques
  • Candidate management
  • Negotiate Offer and assist with Offer Letter generation, pre-hire checks and other steps necessary to ensure a successful hire and a positive candidate as well as hiring manager experience
  • Interface with search agencies, if any, assigned to a requisition
  • Be a super user of the ATS / RMS
  • Provide timely metrics, reports and status updates on assigned requisitions/ projects or as requested
  • Maintain a sound understanding of Covanta’s value proposition, business and hiring needs, industry trends and niche sites
  • Participate in industry, diversity, veteran and college hiring events
  • Proactively source and network with prospective talent for roles traditionally requiring long lead time to fill, high volume hires and strategic hires
  • Partner with other team members on projects, innovative sourcing strategies and creative cost-effective solutions
  • Other Talent Acquisition & HR initiatives, as needed
  • Work in compliance with industry rules, regulations and practices
  • Maintain confidentiality, accuracy and keep sensitive information secured
  • Be an effective, efficient and engaged Talent Acquisition partner

  • A Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 5 years of recruiting experience is required.
  • Full life-cycle Recruiting experience in a Corporate Recruiting role is preferred.
  • Experience with recruiting for environmental services (or related) sector, including CDL drivers, technicians, sales or support is required 
  • Experience with recruiting for non-exempt / hourly roles is required.
  • Recruiting experience with engineering, power plant operations, IT, finance, tax, sales or procurement, is a plus.
  • Preferred industry/ sector experience – environmental, energy, waste, sustainability, environmental, power generation, paper, heavy engineering, manufacturing or industrial.
  • Experience with one or more ATS is required. Experience with Peoplefluent/ Peopleclick, Taleo, Brassring, ICIMS or Kenexa preferred.
  • Must have internet skills appropriate to conduct research and discover information through Boolean searches; search engines; diversity, niche and social networking sites, etc.
  • Strong prospecting, cold calling, networking, and relationship building skill
  • Sound working knowledge of Recruiting industry rules, regulations and practices is required
  • Knowledge of HR policies and practices is strongly preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge and expertise in direct candidate sourcing utilizing a variety of cost effective tools and sources.
  • Ability to establish and maintain credibility with stake holders and candidates.
  • Ability to drive sourcing campaigns independently and manage multiple searches effectively.
  • Strong results orientation, with high sense of urgency.
  • Ability to motivate candidates, sell the company brand and career opportunities.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task in a fast paced, matrixed team-oriented environment.
  • Must be comfortable working in geographically dispersed team.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business priorities.
  • Dependable, ethical, committed, honest.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willing and able to travel as needed to Covanta’s facilities and for Career Events.
